Uniform Policy
UNIFORM POLICY
TCM uniforms policy mandates that all children wear school uniform when attending school, or when participating in school-organised events outside normal school hours.
ALL uniform items are to be procured for school so as to achieve the desired aim.
Aims and objectives of our policy on school uniform is based on the belief that the school uniform:
- promotes a sense of pride in our school
- helps to create a sense of community and belonging.
- identifies the children with the school
- supports our commitment to inclusion
- prevents children from wearing ‘fashion clothes’ that could be distracting in class
- is pragmatic, smart and designed with health and safety in mind
- is considered good value for money by most parents
Jewellery/Hair Ornaments/ Make-up/Nail Varnish
- For health and safety reasons children are not allowed to wear jewelry to school. The exceptions to this rule are ear-ring studs in pierced ears
- Hair bands, ribbons/bows or ‘scrunchies’ should be plain and either blue or black.
- Make up and nail varnish should not be worn to school
- Children should not have decorative patterns cut into their hair or have hair coloured or dyed.
- Wearing beads are not allowed …
Rules
- It is expected that the children wear the school uniform each day, with the appropriate footwear.
- If a child does not wear the correct uniform, a verbal or written reminder of our expectations will be communicated to the parents/guardian.
- If a child continues to wear the incorrect uniform after a verbal or written reminder, the school reserves the right to suspend the child until the correct uniform can be worn.
- If a child arrives at school wearing inappropriate clothing which causes concern (e.g. unsuitable for the weather, too revealing, offensive/unsuitable slogans, etc.) then the parents will be contacted, and the child sent home.
- If a child does not wear their PE kit on stated P.E. days, a letter is sent home to the parents/guardian and the child will be unable to take part in the lesson.
- Parents are asked to clearly label every item of school clothing with their child’s name.
- Children are responsible for taking care of their own items or uniform.
- Hair – Girls should wear their hair in cornrows. Braids, Beads, weave-on or attachments are not allowed.
- Boys should have a low cut style always and not grow an afro.
- For first violation of these rules, a letter will be sent home. If the child attends school the next day and the hair has not been changed, the school will contact the parents, and the child will not be allowed into class.
